NOTICE: Reopening for Public Masses
St. James to Reopen for weekend Masses May 30th & 31st.
Archbishop Gustavo Garcia-Siller announced Monday, May 11th that churches in the Archdiocese of San Antonio can once again open their doors for weekend Masses. The first weekend Masses will take place May 23-24. Daily Masses can resume on May 19th without the COVID-19 restriction of 10 persons or fewer. The Archbishop said churches will reopen under safety guidelines from Governor Greg Abbott. Everyone must wear face masks, and social distancing must be maintained, which means no hugs or handshaking, even among families. Instead, parishioners will give gestures to show signs of peace.
Please know Fr. Dennis and Fr. Greg are in communication with the Archdiocese of San Antonio, and with the St. James parish staff to develop and execute a safety plan as Masses begin. There will be more directives from the parish in the upcoming days. All song books and missalettes will be removed from the church. Please be patient as this is a serious matter.
Parishioners at risk or with any medical issues or 65 or older are encouraged not to return to Mass at this time. Masses will still be offered via KWED and YouTube.
Please note the weekend Mass schedule will return to normal:
Saturday Vigil at 4 p.m.
Sunday Masses at 8 a.m., 10:15 a.m., and 12:15 p.m.
The percentage of parishioners that can safely attend Mass will be determined as soon as possible. Please pray for us as we move forward during this difficult time.
AFTER DISCERNING THIS MATTER WITH SAFETY CONCERNS IN MIND, ST. JAMES CHURCH WILL NOT RSUME WEEKEND MASSES UNTIL PENTECOST WEEKEND, MAY 30th & 31st.
Daily Masses will resume starting May 19th at 8 a.m. on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays without the previous 10-person limit. Again, face masks and social distancing will be implemented at all Masses.
We appreciate your patience and cooperation as we move forward!
Fr. Dennis & Fr. Greg
