Fr. Stan Fiuk (pronounced fyook) joined St. James as our pastor in July 2020.
Born in Puszno, Poland to Janina Jurak and Joseph Fiuk in 1962, he later pursued Holy Orders and was ordained on June 2, 1990 in Lublin, Poland by Bishop Boleslaw Pytak.
After his first year as a priest in Poland, he was then transferred to Ukraine, spending seven years at Marian Sanctuary in Ltichev.
After Ukraine, Fr. Stan worked missions in Bulo Bulo, Bolivia through arish Nuestra Senora de Copacabana of the Prelatura de Aiquile for six years. He then served as a confessor at the Sanctuary at Santa Maria delle Carceri in Prato (Tuscany) for a year.
Since then, Fr. Stan was assigned to the Archdiocese of San Antonio and has served at various parishes throughout the archdiocese.
Fr. Stan has written two books, …I am begging for forgiveness…, which is a re-writing of his doctoral thesis, and Mother of Mercy. You can request copies of his books from the parish office.
The totality of Catholic belief is summed up in the Nicene Creed:
I believe in one God,
the Father almighty,
maker of heaven and earth, of all things visible and invisible.
I believe in one Lord Jesus Christ, the Only Begotten Son of God, born of the Father before all ages. God from God, Light from Light, true God from true God, begotten, not made, consubstantial with the Father; through him all things were made. For us men and for our salvation he came down from heaven, and by the Holy Spirit was incarnate of the Virgin Mary, and became man. For our sake he was crucified under Pontius Pilate, he suffered death and was buried, and rose again on the third day in accordance with the Scriptures. He ascended into heaven and is seated at the right hand of the Father. He will come again in glory to judge the living and the dead and his kingdom will have no end.
I believe in the Holy Spirit, the Lord, the giver of life, who proceeds from the Father and the Son, who with the Father and the Son is adored and glorified, who has spoken through the prophets.
I believe in one, holy, catholic and apostolic Church. I confess one Baptism for the forgiveness of sins and I look forward to the resurrection of the dead and the life of the world to come.
Amen.
Sacraments are signs of God’s grace, instituted by Christ and entrusted to the Church, by which divine life is dispensed to us through the work of the Holy Spirit.
There are seven Sacraments in the Catholic Church: Baptism, Confirmation, Eucharist, Reconciliation (confession), Marriage, and Holy Orders.
You can learn more about the Sacraments at St. James here.
We would be so glad to walk with you in your faith journey!
Starting the journey to becoming Catholic begins with a conversation with our Pastoral Associate of Evangelization & Catechesis, Joey Gutierrez. Please contact him at (830) 379-1796 or at [email protected].
After you determine if you would like to move forward, you would then participate in a nine- to eleven-month journey in RCIA (Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults). This is a process for those who have reached the age of reason (about seven years of age) and older who have yet to receive the Sacraments in the Catholic Church.
You can find learn information about the RCIA process here.
We would love to have your family join our parish family!
To get the process started, please call (830) 379-1796 or email [email protected] to request a registration form.
